This would be first Parliament session being held by President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Keqiang after they took over in the leadership change last year.
The important feature of the NPC, which meets about a fortnight every year, would be the work report by the premier outlining policies concerning all aspects of the country.
This would include fixing the official GDP target for the world’s second largest economy, which was expected to be about 7.5 per cent, same as last year.
China’s GDP had come down from double digits to 7.7 per cent this year, barely above the official target of 7.5 per cent.
The government has already launched a host of reforms to spur economic growth.
On the political front, the new leadership is expected to firm up the campaign against corruption being carried out since last year, which has seen key leaders like Bo Xilai being punished for graft.
