Rapper Chris Brown will have to spend his birthday behind bars as the court has extended his jail term for a week in the 2009 Rihanna assault case.

Brown, who was sentenced to jail almost two months ago for violating the terms of his court-ordered anger-management treatment, was ordered by a LA judge to remain incarcerated for at least another week. He would be spending his birthday on May 5 in the jail itself, reported Ace Showbiz.

His attorney Mark Geragos said that he would file a motion to seek the release of the singer. The motion will be considered at a May 9 hearing.

“He’s doing remarkably well under the circumstances. It’s a challenging situation to be in. I’m hoping we get it resolved quickly,” Geragos said.
Brown’s legal trouble started in 2009 following an assault case involving his then-girlfriend Rihanna.
