Chhattisgarh: Notification issued for 3rd phase of Lok Sabha polls

Raipur: The Election Commission on Saturday issued notification for the third phase of Lok Sabha polls to be held in seven constituencies in Chhattisgarh on 24 April.


“The Election Commission of India today issued a notification for the third phase of the Lk Sabha polls in Chhattisgarh. In the third phase, polling will be held in Sarguja, Raigadh, Janjgir-Champa, Korba, Bilaspur, Durg and Raipur. In these parliamentary constituencies, the voting process will be held between 7 AM and 6 PM,” officials from the State Chief Election office told reporters on Saturday.


Chhattisgarh is going to polls in three-phases on 10, 17 and 24 April.


“Candidates can file nominations for the third phase of Lok Sabha polls in Chhattisgarh till 5 April. The scrutiny of nominations will be conducted on 7 April, while the candidates can withdraw their names from the fray till 9 April,” state electoral officer, Sunil Kujur said.


Total 15.10 lakh voters will exercise their franchise in Sarguja Lok Sabha constituency, while in Raigadh 16.13 lakh voters will decide the fate of candidates, Kujur said.


In Janjgir Champa 17.35 lakh voters, in Korba 14.12 lakh voters, in Bilaspur 17 lakh voters, in Raipur 18.75 lakh voters and in Durg 18.43 lakh voters will exercise their franchise.


There are 11 Lok Sabha seats in Chhattisgarh.
